Osmund waves Cameron over... "Sir... There's an interesting development that came up..."

Cameron steps off from the main group for a moment. "You have my attention. Though you say 'interesting' with that inflection that implies "plague has been found in the dockyards" or "We seem to have acquired an army; unfortunately it's not ours"...'

He will have finished his drink by now, setting the empty tankard off to the side.

"There was talk of Harrune walking the Ht'Gon pattern after the Rebma one. But... There are a number of clans who will not put up with his actions without him besting a champion of some sort. Like another Amberite...." He will start with. "And, well, you did... with Kothir..." HE will pause. "Oh yeah, and they tried to kill us over it."

Cameron sighs and shakes his head at the petty politics then comes up short. "They did *what*? SO when you say clans, are you referring to the orcs only, or other elements in the court? Because I am just about to put my foot down on some of this downright feral dung I keep running into with the orcs."

His voice goes quiet for a moment. "And they tried to kill two of my acquaintances, and one I would count a good friend? This... is not going to stand. Is Morgana aware yet?"

[Joshua]

"Harrune and I just came from there. This is where she decreed the show of force to smooth things over." Osmund will wince. "She spared the dwarf's life. I wanted to extract justice, but she did not wish to take another life. I do not know what other clans were involved. But the heads will be invited to witness Harrune earn the right to walk."

[khadjair]

"And I guess... I'm head of a clan now myself, correct, or am I above that because I'm an Amberite? I'm still confused by my status, given there is the court, then there are the clans, and I think... by right of combat I became a clan head. Right?"

Cameron rubs his temples for a moment and sighs. "This just keeps getting more complicated. I think I understand why personal secretaries are all the rage in high society now. Except in this case I might need to make sure mine is also a competent bodyguard..."

[Joshua]

"You're overthinking... You are an Amberite, thus can represent Ht'Gon's pattern. You won respect in combat, so if Harrune can best you in some way, he will gain respect as well. That's all."

He will take a breath. "The court is the only official status. The clans are a construct from their previous lives. You could simply order them disolved or integrated, but... tensions are a bit high for that to go smoothly."

[khadjair]

"I'm used to racial tensions, even when it's just orcs. So I understand the arbitrariness of it all." He sighs and rubs his temples. "There might be a way to get around this... It is specifically worded as just "a challenge", yes? I may have a way to turn this into a lesson that the clans, especially the orcs, need to learn. About how strength of arms is not everything."

He gets a thoughtful look as he considers.

"If so, perhaps you should talk to Alystrakos* and Lyra? They have recently earned respect in combat as well, so they would be the ones who are most important in this regard. Perhaps I should have called the Lady over as well... would you prefer to talk to her about your idea? I can let you handle it..." Osmund will offer.

"Well... let me think on it. Too much collusion might pose... issues. and I'm nto fully convinced on my idea yet. Is the notion that he would have to best *all* of us or just a chosen champion?"
