Alys shrugs, "Freshly cooked, with plenty of meat, would be my preference... but I am not overly particular, really. What is nearby and worth tasting?"

"There's a pretty good roaster nearby. Orc, so it's a lot of meat. He makes these sandwiches he calls 'kebabs', where it's meat and yogurt in a bread pocket. It's better than it sounds," he says, before leading her along. The smell will hit them both before too long - roasted beef, pork, mutton, even assorted poultries. The stall comes into view in short order, where the meats are carefully spinning around in a very large oven, maintained by a pair of watchful orcs while a goblin manages the till. "Oh! Aibne! Duck kebab?"

The bear shakes his head a little. "Um, maybe. I'll just have what Alys has."

Alys shrugs, "Make that four kebabs, then; two mutton, two duck," and presents the goblin with a small coin - mostly steel, but with a tiny dot of gold at the center.*

_____
* This is not ordinary Amber tender - by which we mean, not one of the coins issued by Morek or Castle Amber or the like. Which in turn means that Alys is deliberately over-paying by about one part in five to cover both the cost of (and inconvenience of having to find) a money changer. Of course, a particularly adventurous and risk-taking goblin might be able to get rather more than that from a collector... or might end up wasting an awful lot of time to no gain whatsoever.

The goblin looks over the coin rigorously, studying the coin with care. "Hmm. Yes, yes. I see. Very expensive bit o'coin, this. I see, I see. Good craftsmanship, very pure." He nods a little and barks slightly, and the orcs smirk, before shaving off the appropriate kebabs. The meat gets stuffed in fresh golden bread, absolutely stuffed until the pockets are bursting at the seams, then slathered in honeyed yogurt, before being wrapped in a bit of waxed paper and handed to Aibne, who blinks slightly, staring down at the massively overfilled sandwiches. "Please come again, m'lady, an' never say ya don't get what ya pay fer at Wroughtgut's Rotisserie!" one of the orcs says, smiling.

"This is... going to be messy," the bear murmurs, carefully handing Alys one of each of the sandwiches.

Alys accepts her two sandwiches with far less (apparent) caution*, offers the proprietors of Wroughtgut's Rotisserie a smile and a nod and a, "Of course," and then settles in to devouring the meal while following Aibne. It is, indeed, somewhat messy (though the waxed paper helps quite a bit), and once she's finished both sandwiches, Alys licks her fingers clean in remarkably cat-like manner.

Aibne eats his carefully, before folding up the wax paper as carefully as he can and putting them into a pouch with a faint hint of regret. "Wish I could clean those, but oh well," he says, shaking his head. "Anyway. Did you have anything you want to do now? I can show you almost anywhere you wanted to go," he offers, smiling a little.

Alys blinks. "I'd expect that to be a relatively simple spell. Not necessarily worth the time, but certainly doable." She hands over the wrappers from her sandwiches as well; no reason to incinerate them if Aibne is collecting the things.

"Although... hm... A general purpose spell that could handle repair and cleaning of clothing as well... That would definitely have some utility; imagine, for example, if time in Priscilla's shadow had moved more slowly, and we'd returned here with no time to clean up and change clothes before the festivities this evening."

Aibne shrugs a little, frowning. "Magic is Magic. It oughtn't be used for what work good hands can do. It's work to keep men alive in conditions beyond mortal ken, places where ya'd die most certainly without it." He shakes his head and frowns a little. "But that's just my take. Magister Laeryn and a couple of the others disagree. One of them was from a place where magic flowed like water, and near everyone had it in some form or another. T'was a rare man that couldn't bind the spirits that gave them their gifts and powers."

Alys shrugs. "Personally, I don't see any qualitative difference between accomplishing a task by sorcery - or even a Greater Power - and the same task accomplished by simple physical effort. Now, if we were in a shadow where the local magic involved binding spirits into service... that would be a different question altogether."

Aibne nods a little, thinking. "Speaking of Great Powers... you still haven't really told me about Sorcery* as you know it." He starts to walk, thinking. "Oh, and if we're not going to get shoved into the throng to the Miner's Guild meeting, we should probably get into one of the side passages. Unless you wanted to go meet Pluto?"

*So not Sorcery.
