Re: 07.06f: Underwater Ball (Musician's Lounge)
"Wait, whose this Odin person? I'm guessing he doesn't have one eye, an eight legged horse, and two ravens on either shoulder," Aibne says, frowning a little. "Uh, anyway. Rogbar had me report to Morek about it, and there were things done about it, but I don't know anything about the sanctions, not really. So, uh... yeah." He blinks a little, frowning faintly, holding a paw out to Priscilla. "If there's anything you need, feel free to come to me about it. I'll try not to be too hard to find for the people that need me."

"One eye, no ravens or unusual horse in evidence, though I'd not be surprised if he could manage such with shapeshifting. And as Priscilla mentioned, shadows of people do happen; I ran into at least one place where the locals thought I was a god based solely on my appearance; spend enough time exploring out in shadow and I'm sure you'll find the same."
"Good to hear that's been dealt with, though I expect Morek was more concerned with inefficiency than anything else."

Priscilla nods to Aibne. "What happened to me seems so... insignificant than this." She will blush, and look down. "But, it was part of my soul he was holding. It hurt."

"Nobody's troubles are insignificant, Priscilla," the bear says, shaking his head a little. "Anything that happens to anyone affects more people than anybody really realizes. You are, far and away, one of the best tailors in this world or any other - what would happen if you had an off day? Or the shadow of your captor found his way here, found you, threatened you in some way? Many people would be hurt by this - friends, patrons, even the people you mightn't think would be. One way or another, we're all linked," he says, smiling softly. "Even if he held your very soul, you were brave enough, wise enough, and smart enough to steal it away from him again, and sneak away to here. If anyone dares to hurt you again, just remember that. You are better than you think you are, more valuable than you might ever realize, and..." his face turns grim for a short moment. "If I find out anyone's done half the things to you that's been done to me, they will understand why Bearskins are people to be feared." His eyes flash, squeezing his left hand tight, four of the gems glinting more than usual before relaxing.

Priscilla will nod. "My skills, such as they are, will help if I can. If you wish, I'm willing to listen. My story is short, it can wait until later."

Alys shrugs. "There's no need to wait if you wish to tell it now. Though if you'd prefer, I at least have no particular plans for after the ball this evening."

Priscilla will relate a fairly common tale. A young man, Nathan, tricked her while she was on land taking her seal-skin. He changed after that, becoming basically an abusive husband, fairly brutal. They had 3 children before Priscilla managed to find an ally in her mirror, which allowed her to find her skin and flee. The mirror allowed her to find a caravan heading toward Amber, and she arrived and rebuilt her life.
_________
*: The story is intended to be an inverse of Aibne's. A cruel human holding and torturing a helpless fae.

Alys listens, and does her best to offer sympathy where appropriate... but the story doesn't elicit much of an actual emotional response from her until Priscilla gets to the point where she had to leave her children behind in order to escape. That bit prompts both genuine sympathy and an offer of assistance. (To help Priscilla go back and talk to her kids and offer them a chance to come to Amber.)
"Though at the moment, I'm afraid my personal assistance would be limited to cutting a deal with someone else to go with you..." Alys will add a brief explanation of the offer of training she made, which is going to occupy her personal activity for probably most of the upcoming year (Amber-time).

Aibne's mouth curls very slightly as he listens to Priscilla's tale, but he does his best to hide it. "Ah, yes. The selkie I'm familiar with, and that is a tale told time and again in the shadows I come from," he says, musing slightly. He gives a light bow, frowning faintly. "Generally, the man meets a foul end when the sea-fae brings in one of her folk, as punishment to the abuser. Did your children show signs of the seal-folk?" he'll ask, after Alys finishes the discussion of training. He thinks a little and turns to her. "You may want to train them in Sorcery, too. It's saved mine and my comrades' lives many a time, and in more than a handful of shadows."

"I am not sure if my children were or not. they seemed human, the older ones definitely. But I have not returned." She shivers. "I'm not sure I'm ready to return. My own lessons in sorcery have been progressing slow. I mostly just use glamours to help with fitting."
