07.05b: Breakfast on the Waterfront

[Joshua]

"I think people questioned how safe I would be."
Osborne talks and takes short bites. He takes great care to not reveal his face while he is eating, a fairly impressive feat in itself.
"I would like to see it. I have the impression it can make me real.. or whole, if you prefer."

[colomon]

Renny is thoughtful. "It sounds to me like you have seen a damaged Pattern. Did you walk it?"

[Joshua]

"You sort of walk it... jumping the cracks. I knew it would be fatal to step on one. But, it's incomplete... it can't make you complete, or whole... it leaves you broken. but aware." He shifts... "Makes you a little nuts."

[colomon]

"I think you should have a long talk with someone who understands this stuff before getting anywhere near a full Pattern," Renny says. "Dworkin comes to mind."

[Joshua]

"He's scary." Osmund observes. "But, perhaps. He must have noticed me. And that Trina lady offered to speak with me tonight at the ball. Everyone is so open, but in my experience, they all just want something. Perhaps they don't even know what they will ask for yet, but they will want something. Even you... but I think I will be okay with your trade."

[colomon]

"Ugh, last night," Renny says. "Where I grew up, generous hospitality was a given, but we minded our own business, too. Last night, it seemed like many of them were not particularly keen on hospitality, but they'd blurt out as many details of their powers as they could to near complete strangers. I found it very disconcerting."

[Joshua]

"Perhaps they're still new to it. Not everyone understands how dangerous the world is." He shrugs, "I am looking forward to seeing more of that pattern... but I detonated the cave that contained what I walked. I didn't want anyone following me."

[colomon]

Renny blinks, but focuses. "So Dworkin's visitor last night is made of what you get when you don't have Pattern?"

[Joshua]

"It's more what you get when you erase pattern. Anti-pattern.." Osmund tries to explain. "Still real, but opposite."

[colomon]

Renny nods, digesting this information. "Was that elf who chased you the same?"
