"Well it certainly seems to be important to her, and it does pique my curiosity. I doubt that detouring for a few minutes will make a difference in our journey. Come gentlemen...let us see what we see."

Oberon shrugs. "This makes as much sense as anything else."

The dog leads you through a short path to where a modern-day cop is apparently digging up buried treasure. He's got a shovel and is exhuming an area between two graves. He's got a small pile of gold and other valuables piled nearby, and is currently standing in a five-foot-deep hole. He looks up (he's about 5' 10") and blinks. "Uh... Sadie? Are these... Uh... Who are they?" He asks the dog.

Sadie seems to think for a few seconds and then walks over and smooths out two section of dirt loosened up by the digging. One near the cop and the other near everyone else.

She then goes to the one near the cop and using one of her claws she writes in the dirt. Rather poorly by the way. Is not that easy when you haven't really written before and are using dirt and a dogs claw as your tool of choice.

Friends from

she then goes over to the other patch.

She then sits and nods confident that she's successful handled the situation.

"Well friend Solten, it would appear that you are correct...there is more to her than meets the eye. Most remarkable."

Nuall turns to Oberon. "Is this sort of thing normal when one travels so? It will take some time to get used to such wonders.

Nuall chuckles. "Well, I am hardly dressed for 'discretely' but if aiding this gentleman aids us as well I am willing to do."

He turns to face Sadie and bows slightly. "And thank you...Sadie I believe the name was?"

Nods her head once and barks approval. Pants happily.

((OOC: I am greatly entertained by Sadie's posts thus far :) ))

Solten watches with his slightly crooked smile. "Well, I can't say that was quite what I was expecting. I'm honestly not sure if a dog writing in the dirt is more or less strange that what I had expected... but one that writes to us to assist someone digging up treasure? I think that qualifies as more." He gives a laugh. "I think, after today, I'll learn not to have expectations at all!"

He greets Sadie, "Nice to meet you Sadie." He then turns to Oberon. "Well, if I understand all your rambling on the way here, I think this is why we're here. Shall we help out?"

Oberon listens. "I wasn't expecting a talking dog, but we have a talking lemur so that shouldn't surprise me. Still, I was attempting to walk to a place with lots of technology and little magic." (Yes, everyone is currently speaking the same language. One of the benefits of shadow travel.) "Forgive me, but are talking dogs common here?"

(I also assume the conversation goes back and forth while you're helping to dig. Of note, the cop doesn't have anywhere near Amber strength, so, you have a LOT easier time getting into and out of the hole as well as digging than he does.)

The cop shakes his head. "No. Actually, Sadie is the only one I've ever heard of and I didn't know about that until this morning." He'll hesitate, "I'm Murphy by the way. Lieutenant Murphy Dalton, head of the k-9 unit of the city. Sadie was my partner."

Nuall bows. "Murphy...Sadie...I am Nuall of...well no where in particular I suppose. It is a pleasure to meet you both."

Nuall looks at the hole in the ground and then at his own clothing. "Well, I'm hardly dressed for manual labor and I do normally try to hard to avoid it. But this undertaking seems to have something of a clandestine air about it and while I abhor manual labor I do adore a chance for mischief."

Nuall strips to the waist, jumps into the hole and begins to puzzle out how to use a shovel.

"So friend Murphy, perhaps you would care to explain why we are digging and why the fruits of our labor must be transported with discretion?"

Before long passes, Solten will introduce himself as well. He doesn't pay any mind to the dirt, jumping in and digging as much with his hands for a bit before realizing there was, in fact, another shovel after all.

After Murphy's statements Solten pauses in his digging and asks the obvious question: "Was?"

((OOC: My attempt at subtle, mostly unintentional by the character shadow manipulation.))
