07.01g: The Seventh Winter (Fireside Table)

"It's real," Osmund says. "A storybook character can't move a physical object."

[Brian C]

"But you tried. I imagine if I touched you my hand would stop. You're no mere storybook character.If you were you'd be unable to erase portions of the storybook. I'm curious what tool you use to do so."

[Wyvern]

Alys grins. "Amber, in that example would be... well, Amber. A stone castle set high and away from the water's edge. If you wanted to wipe Amber away like some minor shadow, you'd need one hell of a storm."

"As for reality... you could walk out into shadow, and touch someone, and your hand would stop. You could bring them back here, and they wouldn't fade away... but they wouldn't be entirely real, either. Osmund's more real than most, but that still doesn't put him on par with the rest of us."

For the record, Osmund is curled into a fetal position on his chair, he is rockling slightly, and only responding to direct questions / orders.

"I would state that there are things in shadow as real as us,even if they are rare."

Trina waives over a waiter."Get me something strong." She then sits herself next to Osmund. "Dear boy what is the problem? You are safe here."

[Joshua]

Osmund shakes and just looks at Renny, silently pleading for help. He's been curled up since he first mentioned Pich and the shocked responses have just terrified him further.

Renny flashes the others a look which says Go easy on him, and walks over to put her hand gently on Osmund's shoulder. "It's okay. We're not going to punish you, and this elf of yours has no real power here. You're safe."

[Wyvern]

Alys pauses, seeming to notice the state Osmund is in for the first time. Then she looks to Trina, flips over the top card of her trump deck (revealing the nine of coins), and asks, "You said you can make these?"

[Brian C]

Trina will take the drink from the waiter as he returns. Turning to Osmund "I ordered this for you. I can offer you refuge in Tir-na Nog'th."

Turning to Alys "I can make those. For now Dworkin has kept the secret of their creation as a house secret with few exceptions. I only learned because I am rather studious. I offered to tutor you in their use. Once we get to know each other better I may be able to teach you more."

"Please do not take that as a brush off. I have always seen trumps as very personal. I haven't tried to teach anyone how to make them yet, but they are in part a psychic extension of someone. So showing someone how to make that connection would be rather personal and require that I know them well. I am not sure whether I feel this way merely for protection or because I could not teach someone I did not have a sympathetic connection with. "
