Knife's initial appearance was as a slightly unrelated character in Captain Amazing.

the title for that comic was: Captain Amazing vs some guy with a Knife!!! In the "the villian had no chance" letters that followed, he was simply referred to as Knife.

In teh 30's Knife used lots of gimmick weapons (all knives) to take on lots of early golden age supers. He (and all following versions) were expert knife-fighters.

In the 40's, Knife's son joined forces with Ammo in his own series to work with the allies in WWII.

A 70's reboot of Knife once again went to using powered gadget blades as a villain for hire.
