07.11c: Into the Woods

[Rasanam]

Rasanam looks back and forth between where Odin is tending Caelund, and where the Raven is tending himself, and comments, "I do have healing spells prepared, you know..."

If both parties turn down the implied offer, he'll spend a bit of time (very carefully) picking up any discarded manticore quills for later study.

[Joshua]

Odin takes a look at Caelund's wound... "It's spread.. .Well, you are in luck..." He mumbles... Before grasping lightly around the wound.

He says to Lyra, "Shapeshifting is a gift of Chaos. Shapeshifting yourself is helpful, but with a little work..."

The sensation that floods Caelund is ... not painful but definitely odd*. Sort of a tingling as blood flow is disrupted. Not a lot, just, some of your blood cells latch onto the poison and flow back toward the wound, while leaving enough space for normal (if slightly reduced) flow. It only take a minute or three, but the poison is painlessly expelled from the original wound.

Lyra looks a bit amazed at the demonstration but her desire to present a friendly persona trumps her desire to ask Odin more questions. "Are you alright, sir?" she inquires of Caelund. "What were you doing out here?"

Keeping the arm in its sling, Caelund pumps his fist a few times and checks that the blood flows red after letting Odin do his thing. After a couple, he hisses between his teeth as feeling and colour returns to the limb. "Thanks for the leech," he comments coarsely to the shapeshifter, "I'll handle the rest on my own*."

He looks back up to Lyra, his expression far more steeled than before, hardened and critical given the brief moment to compose himself. "Thank you, M'lady, but no." He takes a few heavy pants, clearly attempting to recover his stamina before continuing, his tone sardonic and wary as he responds to her. "I've been on the run from that giant spiked plushy for the past two hours, probably because it decided I smelled like barbecue.** Next thing I know, a coincidental bear-drop saves my tail and leads to a conveniently over-prepared group containing two wyrms, a duck, and gent who just demonstrated what felt like being able to drain my veins if he wanted to. I don't exactly think that constitutes 'all right'."

He pulls a gauze bandage out of a pouch on his belt, and starts wrapping the wound. "I'm just out here looking for inspiration, which, quite frankly, I found - running for one's life from an overgrown mutant fur-ball does that to you. My query is: What are you doing so coincidentally here?"

*: It doesn't take much to figure that the latter half of the sentence is directed to Rasanam.
**: The scent of smoke is simple enough to confirm, though it seems more akin to sulfur than wood or cooking fumes.

Lyra looks a bit abashed for a moment at her question but her thoughts quickly become distracted by some interesting details in the man's story. "Before that, a quick introduction." Lyra will make introductions for the group beginning with herself and her husband and then Odin and the Raven. "We came out here on a bit of a scouting trip. There isn't much known about the Woods once one heads much further in past the Orc Encampment. We wanted to know more about just what sort of dangers might be living right next door. Perhaps our plans are more fortuitous than coincidental. The Woods seems an awfully dangerous place to go looking for inspiration."

[Rasanam]

Rasanam looks Caelund over thoughtfully. "On the one hand, my healing spells are limited; if you're going to be alright, it makes some sense to save it in case of an actual emergency. On the other hand, getting you safely back to Amber would be... inconvenient; either we'd all have to turn around, or we'd have to split the group, which I think that 'spiked fur-ball' has proven is unwise. And if you're staying with us until we head back this evening... well, should we encounter anything worse than the Manticore, I'd rather have a companion who's in fighting shape than one I'll need to protect."

[Krajk]

Krajk shoots Caelund a Look as he responds to Lyra, as he finishes cleaning off his weapons and reholsters them, but while it looks like Krajk is about to say something he instead settles for rolling his eyes. After Rasanam debates the merits of using a healing spell or not, Krajk will say in a rather dry and off-handed fashion*, "I've styptic powder on me, scented too to help mask the smell of blood, unless he'd rather be able to describe his next adventure as being because something else decided he smelled like steak tartare."

(*He's not really addressing anyone in particular with this statement, it's kinda' being said to the air, but anyone actually bothering to read between the lines can tell that 1) it's aimed more at Rasanam than Caelund, and 2) Krajk doesn't really care whether Caelund accepts or not. It ended up not really working with the post as it wrote itself, but as I commented in IM to Wyvern on the subject of walking around with someone with a bleeding wound, "Makes good bait!")

[The Raven]

"A... Duck?" comments a stunned Raven... "Clearly your vision is still a bit fuzzy. No matter. You were making such a ruckus that everyone within a mile must have heard it. I merely got there first."

[Joshua]

Odin will smile but stay quiet. There are enough people talking at the moment.

Lyra turns to Caelund. "Do you think you're up to accompanying us if we continue to do more scouting and exploration?"

(assuming a positive response, her next question is for the Raven) "Did you notice anything of interest while you were flying about before coming across the current situation?"
