((Whoops, meant to post last night and forgot.))

(Continued from On the Other Side.)

Asai sidles in to the gap, figurative and literal, that Ayum's gradual retreat leaves open. With a cheerful grin at Harrune, she says, "Did I hear my name being taken in vain, a minute or few ago?" She bobs her head to Harrune's conversational companion in a friendly greeting, and then continues speaking to the Cani briefly. "I actually stumbled across another tree-based shadow on one of my recent trips ahunting out in shadow, but that tree had a definitive crown and root-base and the world was a flat-earth sort of thing set midway down the trunk. Not nearly as peculiar as yours, though the local gods had a similar tendency to affect daily life.*"

* Reffing an approximate equivalent of the Nordic world tree, I figure the topic of Harrune's home shadow would have come up previously in some conversation or another since they're both in the same court and Asai's inevitably curious about things.

"Hmmm...does 'formidable intellect' count as 'taking in vain'? Somehow that just doesn't seem right to me..."

"Asai, please allow me to present Lady Lydre Lyra, our most recent addition to the court of Ht'Gon. Lyra, this is Lady Asai of Tir'na Ng'oth and unofficial Mistress of Libraries. We have been discussing magic and how it works here as opposed to out in the shadows. I thought you could give her better insights on the subject than I. "

"And another World Tree you say? Perhaps I should go visit it some time. I have only seen the one so far."

(OOC: Yeah, the topic of home would no doubt have come up at some point. He's never hesitant about talking about home.)

The half-drow curtsies to Asai, intrigued by the unique appearance of their newest conversationalist. "Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance Lady Asai. Harrune was just advising me of your expertise in all things scholarly. I'm sure I'll be visiting the Library regularly, particularly if there are any writings on the topic of mechanics and engineering and the possible interface of magic with such devices...but that's a topic better discussed with my husband. As Harrune said I'm very curious about the nature of magic across the various shadows. I've begun studies since my arrival but there is so much more I have to learn."

"The library's a bit scarcer on things regarding mechanical contraptions, largely because higher technologies tend to have fits operating here in Amber, but that mostly just means it has quite a fair bit instead of profuse quantities. You and your mate both are welcome to peruse the library, so long as you respect the knowledge, the book, and the rules, and the rules mostly consist of the former two." Asai cocks her head, thinking for a moment. "After the banquet, if you'd like, I could show you the section on comparative shadow magics. It's something of a hobby of mine, though that's not necessarily saying much given that it's 'just' another type of knowledge. If you can tell me a bit about your home shadow's magic, I could probably even find you a book centered around similar theories. The fine details may not match, but I can likely come close."

"Assuming nothing pressing draws our attention elsewhere, I'm sure we'd both love to go with you to the Library. Hmm...would you have any volumes there regarding Chaos?"

"Chaos theory, primordial chaos, chaoskampf, prima materia, some variety of chaos shadow-deity/system, or none of the above?"

((We should probably let Harrune get a word in edgewise here at some point. :-P ))

Ossian will approach. If Harrune isn't part of the conversation, the fae will wave him over to the Fae-Touched Thread for conversation, if he is, Ossian will politely wait for a lull before speaking up.

"Chaos with a capital 'C'; a being known by that name that would have an interest in Amber." Lyra smiles pleasantly at Ossian as he approaches, giving a curtsy when he arrives.

"If you Ladies will forgive me, this conversation seems to be getting a bit...esoteric...for my limited knowledge on the subject. Ossian seems to need me for something so I should go speak to him. I will be about somewhere if you need me for anything."

With that he will bow and withdraw from the conversation. He heads over to speak with Ossian.

"Hmm. Individuals outside of Amber tend to merit notice here only in their intersections with local events and peoples. There may be some mention of this 'Chaos' somewhere in the library, but I don't know where it would be if it is at all. The library may be my self-appointed domain, but it predated my arrival and even I haven't managed to read everything in there."
