Re: 07.01c The Seventh Winter (On the Other Side)
"Oh, I certainly can't claim to know what his actual goal is. But I can tell you one thing he's accomplished: he's collected the most powerful strike force across all of shadow. Consider, for example, Asai here," Alys snags a bit of smoked fish for herself with a "Thank you, Asai," before continuing. "Outside of Dworkin and his selected royalty, I doubt there's more than maybe one sorcerer in existence that could match her power - and certainly none I've seen."

"I'd quip that I'm entirely self-taught too, except I suspect I've cheated too much for that by now."

Seeing the tray of hors d'oeuvres, the Raven quickly scoffs one down. Perhaps to pay for the snack, he suggests to Asai, "Perhaps you should learn to fly. I've found it to be extremely enlightening."

There is no verbal response, but a few moments later Asai is sitting lotus style by the table... about three feet off of the floor.

Tabodi shakes her head. "Lady Alystrakos, it seems this is not a place for deep conversation. Perhaps when the feast is over or has grown quiet, we can continue?"

Alystrakos tilts her head, listening. "Perhaps you are right..." A moment later, a yowling noise becomes audible, and Alystrakos turns to face the entrance, one hand on the blade at her hip. She relaxes a bit once it's clear the guards are treating Rogbar as something less than an immediate threat.
"Later it will have to be, then," she tells Tabodi, before ambling off towards the newly arrived feline.

((Having a particularly cross day so here have a filler post.))
All the while keeping a weather eye (and ear) on the various goings-on, Asai spends the next few (for conveniently flexible definitions of few) minutes engaged in idle scholarly banter with Tabodi.
((I figure the two have crossed paths and probably even worked with each other on previous occasions.))

Speaking Girl-to-Girl, Tabodi will likely change to gossip about Amber's most eligible bachelor: Dworkin. Which is ironically scholarly, as that's all Dworkin seems to care about.

When the conversation begins to taper off, Asai politely bids Tabodi farewell and saunters off across the floor towards where she heard her name mentioned a short while previously.
