details on individual forms:
snowy owl, female: "the north wind" - this particular form is sponsored (in addition to researched), and is the only owl with access to inhuman speed.  This form is also capable of speech, and is about 50% larger than an ordinary snowy owl.  On the other hand, actually using its extra abilities is just *asking* for some sort of compel related to that sponsor (a native american wind spirit associated with warriors, cold / snow, and fear / courage), so Johann tends to be a bit careful with it.
snowy owl, male: not sponsored; this form is a perfectly mundane owl.
