Francis of Samskra (technically it would be 'of wahi-samskra' but that is fairly awkward so it was shortened.)
Description:
Francis is a frail, short man of pale complexion. Francis normally wears traditional arabic clothing, usually blue or brown in tint. When in colder climates, he will also wear a long, heavy cloak. Always wears a turban with a decently sized ruby prominently displayed. He sleeps about as often as a cat. However, he can hold conversations in his sleep, though after a few lines it starts to become incoherent.
Francis has never produced any particularly unique devices, but his devices tend to be, on average, smaller and better crafted than those of other sparks.
Behaviors:
Has been known to follow supposed "Crackpot" inventors around to see if their ideas have any merit. Has, on occasion, fallen asleep mid-conversation. It is clear that he favors smaller, more compact and aesthetically pleasing devices, and always takes appearence into account when displaying his various inventions. This of course, makes his inventions slightly more marketable to the consumer market than many sparks.
Equipment:
Francis is very rarely not on his favorite invention, a flying carpet. It stays mostly flat during flight, and has an artistic pillow arrangement at one end. Most of his other various inventions appear to be various small trinkets or household items. The turban seems to be some sort of control device. Francis claims he operates it with brainwaves, but offers little to back that up.
Francis also sells more conventionally controlled versions of his devices, as he claims that the device concealed in his turban is not ready for production yet. One theory is that he found it and doesn't understand how it works. Another common theory that is it has undesired side effects, possibly fatigue, which would explain why he sleeps so much.
Among his inventions, are:
Levitating Carpet
Thanks to a certain Game master, the carpet works as follows. "It's a sonic device that induces a standing wave in the air under the carpet - a fixed high pressure region. No real wind per se." This allows it to hover, but it becomes less stable the farther off the ground it gets. An artistic pillow arrangement on one side likely conceals whatever device causes the carpet to levitate. It is normally about 2-3 feet off the ground, with Francis sitting or kneeling on it. It is fairly stable, but he must have at least decent balance nonetheless.
Turban: This allows him to control his inventions, through some sort of brainwave reading device. He is a bit vague in the inner workings, but it is clear the ruby disguises some sort of transmission device.
He rarely is without at least one clank on his carpet, though these clanks are small (about 8 inches tall, usually).
