Most of the conversation in the Two Mermaids is mundane, although discussions of local gossip quickly fade away as the patron's attention turns to simply eating the best meal any of them have ever tasted. Even the music stops; the bards can tell there's no need for additional entertainment to keep the patrons distracted.
Not all the patrons react so predictably, however. The man hiding in his dark green cloak gives Mr. Willoughby a suspicious look, and pecks cautiously at his food, as if expecting it to bite him.
The trio of adventurers take the sudden increase in quality of board in stride, and continue to discuss their latest plans - apparently some sort of expedition to a cave or tower or something a short distance to the east.
The other Ailuris takes one sip of the wine you gave him, and sets it carefully back down on the countertop. "Musht be shome mistake," he mutters, staring nervously at the glass. "How'm I shupposed to drink to forget, when thish is the same shtuff that... shame shuff..." He shakes his head. "Whoever heard of drinking to rmember?"
Then he carefully takes another sip, lost in thought, tail drooping all the way down to the ground.
The two bards gladly sit down to eat after their performance. The foppish one eats daintily, composing odes to the quality of the fare inbetween bites. His burly companion simply digs in, with a muffled "Thank you," each time you refill his plate.
