Komitus applies four quick swipes of one paw to the perimeter of the windowframe, with the same casual grace as a painter might start the first strokes of background on his latest work. The entire assembly, window, boards, frame, and all, floats free. The construct directs this burden to an open spot on the roof, and peers in through the gap it left behind.

"It looks quite thoroughly gutted in there," Komitus remarks, "Though the damage I can see does not appear to be recent."

Kiaskurro peers over the edge of the roof at Stewart's voice, sniffing curiously at the sight of the Hrassa. He responds in common with a Draconic accent, "No. I have theories, of course, but guesswork is less interesting than heading in to see for myself."

Kiaskurro then turns to the opening made by Komitus and hisses to his companion in Draconic, "Curiouser and curiouser. Bring us inside and be careful..."

Stewart shrugs and peers down through the window, or rather the hole where a window used to be. He watches Kiaskurro and his companion rather expectantly, although what he's expecting isn't exactly clear.

Kiaskurro's familiar makes mental contact.
"There may not be any power floating around out here anymore, but I can still sense a fair amount of power building up in there. I think it might..."

There's a dull (but fairly loud) whump noise, as of a fireball detonating in a confined area, accompanied by a flash of violet light from somewhere on the first floor of the building, shining upwards through the large holes in the floor of the second story.

There's a moment's pause, and then a terrible yowl rings out, all pain and fear and fury, as if someone had tried to torture a mountain lion to death and not quite succeeded.

Then silence. Not just physical silence, but a metaphysical silence - some presence that you hadn't even noticed before is quite distinctively gone.

Komitus waits a moment longer to see if there are any further fireworks forthcoming, and then hops casually into the building.

With a muttered curse, Stewart drops to the floor from the hole. Once there, he pauses for a moment as ectoplasm forms into a large, sleek form in front of him. The moment the construct is complete the two of them run down the stairs.

Kiaskurro makes mental contact with his familiar to ensure that it is still alright, then moves to follow Komitus.

The second floor shows no signs of anything magically unusual. It is, however, missing most of its floor and walls, allowing a clear view of the ground level.

Eldritch energies flicker around the edges of an eight foot diameter hole that goes down through an inch of wood panelling and two feet of (formerly) solid stone. Beneath that lies a glowing crater in the stone floor of the basement, and in the center of the crater, obscured by heat waves shimmering in the air, lies a humanoid figure, unmoving.

Stewart rushes to the edge of the crater and shouts "Luma!", while his transparent construct rushes over to the prone form and gently prods it with an arm.

Kiaskurro silently motions his companion to guide him down to the ground floor. He hops to the ground once there, dusts off his vest, and approaches the crater.

He hisses to Stewart in heavily accented common, "So, you know this one?"

Even before he finishes voicing his question, Kiaskurro's snout begins to wrinkle in thought. He recognizes Luma, being a long-time resident of Targrove, and notices the unusual fur pattern now on her skin.

His eyes wander, taking in the surrounding room and looking for hints at what arcane ritual, if any, just transpired. He sends a mental message to his familiar, Okturis, to seek out Orren of the city watch, "Tell him his displacer beast deputy has gotten into something of a mess."
