Species

Human
Military Nicknames: Us. ("We got incommoding!" / "Who is it?" / "Us, sir!")
You know these guys. In the 2230s, there's actually very little racial prejudice. Who am I kidding? Relative to today there's little. Seems having another species try to kill you puts a lot of that in perspective. By which I mean, not really. People find excuses to be jerks to each other. Knowledge of soul-states is still rate. Common among militairy. However, the fact there was scientific proof of the soul was supressed until Mort's ascention a few years prior.
Yes, at least one preacher blames the existence of shreds on premarital sex and homosexuality.
On the plus side, gender equality has actually made great strides. Cause, seriously, it's about freekin' time. Also, the first threat of a slider strike fixed that right up.

Panthers
Military Nicknames: Cats, Shades, Shadows, Night haunts
Looks a bit like a hairless purple cat the size of a human. They stand slightly taller but weight slightly less on average. Most have lithe builds. As a bioengineered race, they do not display as much variation as humans, but this has increased over time.

Natural Abilities:
Bioelectric charge: Fingertips (actual weapons) and vestigial collar wings*. In hand-to-hand, the fingertips pack about as much punch as a taser. The wings would as well, but... when are you actually going to touch one?
Shadow Skin: When delivering a electric charge, the skin absorbs all light becoming absolute black. This blackness seems to bleed off the skin, making them very difficult to see. This also absorbs non-visible wavelengths, such as x-rays and infrared.

It is believed that Panther's cannot become sliders. The chance is likely less than one in a million.

--------------
*: I REALLY need a new name for these things. take a chicken wing, about that size, remove feathers, attach a tiny hook at end.
Attach one on either side of the neck, allowing them to wrap around the front like an amulet, so the hooks clasp.
they disengage and connect to armor to power it. (the hooks at the end have a strong bioelectric charge) Cervical Tendrils? Amulet hooks?

Na’zothuss* (Nephilim)
Militairy Nickname: Neffs, Reapers, Death.
Snake-like humanoids with angel-style wings. Legs, no tail. Nephilim stand about 7 feet tall, and weigh only slightly more than a human. Their observation of humanity and its development has lead to both tales of angels and tales of terrors in the deep. At least one Kraken story is about a surfacing Nephilim spaceship.

During the human-panther war, they were considered forces of nature. No Reaper was ever captured, and only Mort had any confirmed kills. The never failed any objective where they took a direct hand. However, they would often allow their panther allies to attempt missions, which could go either way.

Nephilim are highly magical, specializing in magic of the four elements.

Their preferred weapon is an energy scythe that can also fire energy blasts.

Very old Nephilim (1000+ years) have a second set of wings.

Only very young nephilim (50 or less years) would be appropriate for a player character.

If a nephilim becomes a shred or a slider, their wings molt until threadbare. Most nephilim will not allow themselves the dishonor of continued existence at that point.

-------------
*: Cultural note: There is a trailing hiss at the end of Na’zothuss. Due to its inflection, in the original language, it can only end sentences. It can never be at the beginning or in the middle. Nephilim are above being annoyed at the misuse of their name as English uses a dramatically different sentence structure. Mostly.
