After a while... Darnell will draw through his trump a small group, including Ossian, Cameron, Harrune, Osmund and some unknown blue-skinned siren.
He was currently talking to Ashara, and is sharing a medium sized balcony with her.

Making a slight gesture towards the siren is "Kokytos is of the extremist pro-Rebma movement. He's against 'primary-air-breathers'. Especially those who are human except for the ability to shapeshift. He's not big on surface dwellers either, like the fisherman who stay in Amber-city while off duty."

"Yes...and no. We still have to have the support of the people. Calling oneself a leader is pointless if none will follow. I for one do not expect to be terribly popular at first. Hopefully in time people will see that I am doing what I can to help them, not exploit them. If they see that, then perhaps I can win them over."

Rasanam, having followed Harrune up here, comments, "It sounds like we may want to go ahead with that announcement we'd planned, regardless of the change in situation - I don't think it will make us any friends with Kokytos, but from what you've said, that wasn't going to happen anyway."

I got the distinct impression he considered all this courtly stuff a bunch of tomfoolery that he'd be just as happy without; I doubt that, in the short term, we're likely to see any orders out of him beyond telling people to leave him alone. In the long term, though... he's a mercenary who just got a permanent allegiance shoved down his throat; when he actually realizes that's what happened - that's when I'd expect things to get dangerous."

Alys leaves Kizak at the bottom of the stairs, and proceeds up to the balcony alone. For the moment, she seems content to stand back and listen.

Asai will shrug, the maneuver looking rather odd on a quadruped. "The one will be some while in recovering and the other may well be longer in acclimating. I see no reason not to proceed as originally planned, possibly with a caveat for when either or both decide they are ready to assert themselves. If they do so in a troublesome manner, well, perhaps that is why the rest of us are here..."

Rasanam shakes his head in response to Ashara's question, beckons Lyra to join them, and - once his wife has arrived - steps forward to make an announcement.
"We," a gesture includes all of the Amberites on the balcony, "are declaring Ashara as Regent of Rebma, with full rights to make proclamations in regards to her person, her realm, and related topics."
