The (Galactic) Choir

Post by Joshua »

An ancient order of Nephilim decided that if there must be evil in the universe, there would be good. To this end, they recruited aliens from across the universe to enforce their will.

Recruits into the Choir must have a passion for heroics. Each is bestowed an elemental ring and the authority to use it to protect the universe. These rings can be doubled up, but not usually. Most recruits prefer to focus on a single ring-type than attempting to spread out their abilities.
The rings are: Fire, Earth, Wind, Water and Heart... I mean Spirit. (Empathy, telepathy, mind control, generic force powers...)

As each recruit performs good deeds, they earn time. A month here, a year there. These can be used to power the greater abilities of the rings.

When five rings combine, they can call upon the power of Life. Rebirth, regeneration, rejuvenation. Years can be withdrawn to de-age individuals, allowing the ring-bearers to live exceptionally long lives. If the bearers are active enough, they might be able to bring their families along as well. Finally, if one can pay for the restored lifespan, one can bring the recently deceased back from the dead.

The Nephilim (Na'zothuss) are masters of elemental magic. It is rumored that they do not need to store up years in order to resurrect individuals.

The aliens themselves are snake-like with angel wings. There is some debate as to the place of that form in legends. Their favored weapons are energy scythes, years ahead of the modern era. In addition, their space-ships are aquatic, designed for water landings. They have some unknown connections to Atlantis, and a base in Europa, beneath the ice.

The other resource of the Nephilim, sort of a backup to the Choir, are the panthers. The panthers are the black-ops squad, the deniable assassins that attempt to fix things by pruning those who cannot be saved. The Choir often opposes the panthers actions, and in some cases the Choir is given a set amount of time to resolve an issue before the panthers are unleashed on it.

A panther is a black skinned, elf-like humanoid, with a slightly cat-like face. They are completely hairless and have two vestigial winglets that sort of make a clasp over their collarbone. They are prehensile, although can do little more than wiggle.

They use a type of glowing energy weapons and personal shields. When these are active, the panther's skin absorbs all ambient light, making it appear to bleed shadows. this is because the panther itself generates electricity thought absorbing light, and is the power-source of his own weapons.

Seth “Mort” Sendall was one of the most promising new recruits. Active during WWII, this member of the Choir amassed a large amount of years of service in a short time. In the end of the conflict, he faced off against one of the Scarabs. Mortally wounded and about to have his ring torn from him, he took his years of service, and attempted something unprecedented. He resurrected his enemy.

As is often the case, such things come at a price. He and the scarab were merged and the scarab was restored to sanity. Mort and the other created a small sub-choir of beneficial necromancers. The power is unstable and drives many to madness, so only the strongest of hearts and minds are allowed to join this order of Friars. The nephilim are not proud of this most recent dirty secret, but don't deny that it can be effective.
