"Trade? Nothing we want. Defense... Even with death dragon gone, still plenty threats. Chaos tribe. Raptor packs. Humans - few get past Poison Dusk, but still threat."

One of the female advisors leans over and whispers something in the chief's ear. His eyes narrow, and he adds, "Alliance imply you need help, too. You beat death dragon - yet still need help? What new threats you bring?"

"Apologies, Let me state things better. My allies and I have dealt with the death dragon and the chaos tribe. I do not bring any new threats, yet. I will be founding a city nearby in the temple and many chromatikin will be coming. I want to get along with my neighbors. In addition I know that The Empire of Tavinoy sometimes invades the swamps. An alliance to deal with that when it happens would be good for both of us."

"Offer, then: no attack each other. Also send two warrior, watch what you doing, maybe help, maybe just watch - up to them. Maybe bigger deal later."

"Agreed. The rebuilding should start shortly."

Maruk nods, and gestures, first to the male warrior standing behind him, "Tegrar," then to the younger of the two females, "Isthra, go with."

The two walk around the fire and stop next to you - clearly waiting for something - perhaps just for you to turn around and leave.

" come" * gregor will start the walk back to the temple.

About two thirds of the way back to the temple, Isthra stops for a moment and casts a spell. A pillar of flame flashes down on a perfectly innocent looking patch of swamp ahead of you - and raptors scatter in all directions*, screeching in panic.

* Well, all directions that aren't towards the three of you. They're apparently smart enough to connect Isthra's actions with the blast of fire that disrupted their ambush.

"That was my first time dealing with the raptors. How often do you run into them?"

Isthra shrugs. "Common. Most packs not threat if seen."

"do they always run in packs or is there a strong one that leads?"
