07.07a: The Refreshment tables

Nuall smoothly takes Priscilla's arm and begins to guide her towards the door at a sedate pace. He quietly whispers to her, "Calmly my Lady. It would not do to let them see you in such a state over such a trivial thing. Remember this, if they think you are so easy to unnerve, they may use that as a way to distract Sadie and make her vulnerable...and yourself as well. A strategic withdrawal is tolerable, but never let them think they have routed you."

Nuall escorts her out. Once they are safely around a corner or two and out of sight he will stop. "Since you live her I will assume that you can make your way home for a new dress alone. I should respond quickly lest wagging tongues try to make this into something more. Also, if they are watching me they will forget about this unpleasantness quickly enough."

Nuall returns to the ball and heads for the dance floor, looking for an available partner.

[Wyvern]

Alys, Sadie, and Solten head arrive at the refreshments table from the dance floor.

"Names are what you make of them," Alys says, continuing the prior conversation. "If you're more comfortable with just 'Sadie'... well, most of the royalty here has adopted a single name - Solten, Oberon, Benabik, Nuall..." Alys shrugs. "As far as names, I may be the odd one out here."

[Sadie]

"That doesn't mean they don't have full names. They may not be announcing them like you, but they probably have them."

[Wyvern]

"Perhaps. Certainly I have more names than I've bothered to keep. Still, if they have such, they're keeping them private - I have taken the time to do my research on the rest of the royalty here."

[Sadie]

"I wonder who has more names... I think I can outdo you." Smiles.

[Wyvern]

Alys laughs. "If you even think you can, then you can certainly outmatch the number of names I'm willing to share."

[Sadie]

Pouts slightly, "You're no fun. So tell me how do you like, um... my city, court... I'm not sure what this is... really big Palace? Calling it mine is correct, yes? Still trying to figure this all out."

[Wyvern]

"Ah... the Court is certainly interesting enough," Alys glances in the direction of Kizak, the water dragon, "but I haven't taken the time to explore much further - I've only been here for a few days, and must admit I've focused rather more of my attention on places that, well, aren't underwater. I'll want to take a full tour eventually, of course, but..." Alys trails off, looking slightly uncomfortable.

[Sadie]

"You don't like the water?" Tilts head curiously.

[Wyvern]

Alys shrugs. "It's hard to properly appreciate such a location when one needs to concern oneself with breathing. A limitation that can be worked around, of course, but a reasonable reason to explore elsewhere first. Besides, there have been issues elsewhere that I've needed to attend to."
