07.07a: The Refreshment tables

Nuall bows. "A pleasure to see you again my Lady. And I am delighted to see that you doing so much better." Nuall gives Sadie's outfit a long look. "Quite the change from Mana, but most suited to a high court lady. Now as to a card, I fear that I know little of the meanings of the cards, but you do not seem to be a lady who will do things in half measure, so I suspect that you will be royalty indeed. I cannot imagine you settling for less. As to the suit, I think I would guess...Cups? If he is to be making the announcement here in Rebma I believe that would be most appropriate. And as I recall the deck, Cups is poorly represented so far."

"...and speaking of cups..." Nuall reaches over to the table and picks up a goblet of wine. He takes a slow sip.

"It is very good to see you so happy again. Whatever choice Dworkin makes for you, I hope it continues to bring you great joy."

[Sadie]

"Well you are correct on the suit, that much is known. I hope you too are in higher spirits. My new aide has apparently kidnapped my (eyes darting to Priscilla and Solten) boyfr... escort." Face blushes crimson at the slip of terms and definite statement that goes with it. "So Nuall, enjoying the wine?" grinning with with big toothy embarrassed grin the glow becoming even more apparent while attempting poorly to shift topics from the slip.

"The wine is quite excellent. No doubt it is one reason people seem to spend more time here than out wandering the shadows. It is definitely better than what I've been getting recently. I'll have to speak with Oberon about that if I ever take another trip with him."

"So, a meeting with Dworkin, a new dress, and aide and dancing? You have been quite busy today. Part of the fun of a formal dance is flirting. If your aide there is not making you think that she might be kidnapping your boyfr...ahem...escort...then she is not doing it properly at all. The question now is what are you going to do about it?" Nuall gives Sadie a grin and a wink.

[Sadie]

"I'm going to show Solten what I've learned and put her in her place of course. Stealing my beau is not part of her job description after all." Smiles devilishly. "Perhaps I should send her your way..." And with that she heads decisively to interrupt Solten and Priscilla.

[Sadie]

Approaching Nuall with almost a confused slightly cowed look is Priscilla, which turns to slight irritation, but still curtsy bows slightly when she reaches him and extends her hand in the proper feminine fashion as she introduces herself. "I am Priscilla aide to the lady Sadie. And if you don't mind my asking, my lord, what did you tell my lady? The manner of her cut in was most peculiar and am unsure what to make of it."

Nuall takes her hand, bows deeply and kisses her hand. "Priscilla, I am Nuall, aide to...well no one at all really." Nuall grins.

"I merely pointed out to her that flirting is always part of the fun of a dance. I pointed out that if he felt Solten's head was truly being turned perhaps she should do something about it. Unless I miss my guess, she is going to make sure that his attention stays fixed quite definitely on her. She is most definitely a woman of action. I have no doubt that Solten will get the point. He might find it a bit uncomfortable at times, but I suspect that he will enjoy his...education. ...and he just might teach her a thing or two along the way as well."

[Sadie]

Priscilla giggles slightly. "Well Sadie has no need to fear me taking Solten from her, not my type. I do hope she does not... overcompensate being as Solten is her first significant other. Speaking of which it seems that's official now." Your Amber psyche tells you that bothers her a bit, but not quite why. "So tell me Nuall, you had a bit of an adventure with my lady. What advice would you give a young lady such as myself who has just become her aide?" Picking up a glass of wine herself. "To Sadie and Solten!" She cheers.

Nuall raises his goblet. "To Sadie and Solten. May they both be happy."

Nuall looks thoughtful. "Well our time together was somewhat brief, so I can hardly say that I am an expert on Sadie. The one thing that I've seen so far is that when she does something she does it with her whole heart. She is not one for half-measures. She decides to do something and she jumps right in...and that has had unintended consequences for her. You could try to temper her a bit...get to her to look before she leaps. I doubt that will do much good though...I know it never does when people try it with me."

"I think her biggest challenge will be that she does not understand humans as well as she thinks that she does. Humans tend to show their best sides to their dogs, and save their darker natures for each other. I do not believe that understands how vicious court politics can be. I fear that she is going to find herself getting hurt more than once. Be there to help her and protect her when you can, and be ready to console her and help keep from losing all regard for people when that fails."

Nuall's attention is suddenly drawn to a large reptilian creature entering the ball. "Forgive my ignorance, but what is that?" Unconsciously his hand reaches for a sword that isn't there tonight...

[Sadie]

"Stay your blade my lord." She jokes. "That's Kizak, he's new to the area. I hear he's a bit of a mage, and is a bit of a gold and gem collector. The rumor going around is that he'd debating becoming a fisherman if you can believe it. Honestly, I think he's still trying to find his place here. And thank you for the advice I will take it to heart as it explains a lot. I must admit little experience with dogs and human interactions. I will do the best I can to see to it she does not lose her way."

[Sadie]

Priscilla turns to watch Sadie and Solten dance. After a bit her jaw drops and she drops her wine glass. When the dance finally ends, it takes her a moment to collect herself and almost robotically clap along with everyone else. By the end of the applause she has regained her composure enough to look down at her now wine stained gown. At this realization she starts to breathe heavily as she fights off a panic attack and attempts to exit the scene while everyone else has their attention focused on Sadie.
