1397-04-21-A: Killer Acoustics

A game of (in no particular order) politics, intrigue, and swashbuckling adventure - set to a backdrop of an industrialized Amber.
The Stage is obsolete, leftover from a previous revision of reality. RP runs in Discord these days.

Korarin listened to Sabressa's ramblings as they actually made more sense this time. So it was like greeting a pirate captain only a different gesture? Then she launched into another unintelligible speech before turning to look at him expectantly again. His own words huh. Trying the weird bow thingy he was told to do, which wasn't as easy to stay in one spot as Sabressa made it look, he said, "Thanks for keeping the sharks away."

Shadow approaches the stage and examines the body for a cause of death, relying on his senses and experience for a basic diagnosis. The lilac catches his eye as well and he gathers it up both as evidence and as a potential link to the killer. He carefully takes in the scent of the area, unsure if such a thing even works underwater, in hopes of catching some scent to follow.

Cynthea nods at Korarin's attempt at courtesy, with a "I will be sure to keep that in mind."

Then she looks back and forth between the siren and Sabressa for a moment. "Well. Someone certainly seems to think you two are useful. Come on then; I have plans for dinner and would like to have this all sorted out before then." And she hops over the railing and starts swimming towards the stage.

Shadow is the first person on the stage and thus has plenty of time to both examine the corpse and pocket any evidence. There's no obvious cause of death - but the scent of corruption lingers in the water, its trail leading upwards - towards where a more conventional theatre would have catwalks and machinery, though Rebma seems to have omitted the catwalks as unnecessary when stage hands can simply swim.

(( OOC aside: Cynthea's translation of the letter has been deliberately not posted. If you want to know what it said, you'll have to ask her... and be willing to believe what she tells you. ))

The slight waif springs onto the sculpted coral barrier with all the poise, grace, and politely smug attitude of an experienced public servant. "Certainly, Your Ladyship. Such things have been known to happen on occasion."

She launches off the short wall, keeping an easy pace behind the Amberite using only a dolphin kick. "If I may be so bold as to inquire, Your Highness, do you get pulled into these... aah, 'events' often?"

When they arrive at the stage, Sabressa would tread water and pester Korarin for her sandals back, before alighting on the surface and looking around a bit.
((OOC: Going to give Shadow a chance to post before I outline any further actions at the stage, in case it changes the scene sufficiently.))

He must have gotten it right no one was staring at him anymore. That was good. Korarin followed Sabressa as she swam towards the stage. Even though everything seemed normal it was still weird swimming towards the stage where the water had been the most disturbed. Why did it turn into a kraken? Unless the kraken had caused the whole thing. He scanned the water nervously before Sabressa poked him. He stared at her for a minute as she demanded her sandals back. Really....first she throws them at him and now she wants them back? She was probably going to take them off and throw them at him again in a few minutes too. He sighed before fishing them out of his satchel and handing them to her.

"Hey, Sabressa do any kraken live here?"

Shadow notices the two approach but pays them little mind, that is until the faint scent of lilac reaches his nose. His attention turns to the girl briefly, his intense gaze noting every detail. While there was little time to waste and he yearned to be after the killer, gathering intelligence could well be worth the delay. Holding out the Lilac he'd gathered up, Shadow interrupts the conversation. "Why was there a Lilac left behind? What do you know about the killer?"

Cynthea sniffs at Sabressa's question. "This does seem a bit more... pointed than the usual family politics."

On slip the sandals as she looks around, catching and similarly watching the wild-man with amused caution. As soon as the article in his hand becomes barely visible, however, there is an audible SNAP as the footwear claps sharply against the floor; the now-empty accessories rebounding from their solid grip on the floor as their former wearer launches backward into the seating, half-scrabbling half-bounding towards an exit at alarming speed while the questions are barely vocalised.

"NO! No. No Nonononono"

((OOC: Aaaand, triggering that compel dropped earlier.))

Korarin blinked in surprise as the sandals he had just given Sabressa bounced off the floor and back towards his face. More disconcerting however was the fact that the normally unfazed Sabressa was panicking and running away. That guy on the stage must be really dangerous. Instincts kicking in and a desire to help his friend Kora took off after Sabressa. After stuffing the offending shoes back in his bag of course.
