Nikasi Lukrei was born ordinary enough but abandoned that label as fast as she could. Fleeing the mundania of a commoner's life in Astaria, she followed the lure of the gambler's dens in Chalkon. Her luck held out until she attracted the ire of the jaguar princes themselves (winning was bad enough, winning and critiquing their methods of rigging games was another). She finally lost to a game that others swear was rigged, though nobody could figure out how (the princes had paid attention to her comments), and accepted a deal to retrieve an artifact from a nearby temple in lieu of repaying the inflated debts. Sporting several experimental mods in addition to the handful she'd already bought, courtesy of the jaguar princes, she made her way into the temple - which promptly disappeared, much to the consternation of the princes. Several months later Nikasi reappeared, sporting a peculiar whip, a snake companion, and a sack full of equally odd artifacts, some of which were eagerly snapped up by sparks and mechanics and others which were merely valuable for their materials, all of which bore religious motifs, and only slightly worse for wear. Since then she's wandered from interest to interest, dabbling in gambling from time to time though avoiding Chalkon, and has even ventured a time or two into the wastes of Eleghost. She sports some signs of her time in Chalkon, namely yellow eagle eyes, feather-studded hair (though many dismiss this as an affectation), and claws.
For all her freewheeling personality, Nikasi dresses remarkably pragmatically, favoring comfortable clothing that's both durable and easy to move in. The mundane nature of the garb, usually tan or dark cream in color, is offset by accents of an odd shimmering color that refuses to settle into being merely blue, purple, or green, in the form of a handful of silk sashes and dyed leather belts. Fingerless leather gloves and matching boots (not toe-less though) of a darker brown color have sinuous feather-like designs worked into them in a matching hue. A mundane whip hangs from her left hip, its handle worked to match boots and gloves. Tiny gold hoop earrings, styled after tiny snakes, pierce her ears, two in the left and three in the right. A tiny stylized bird hangs from each hoop - blue-green and purple on the left; dark blue, amber, and green on the right. Several plume-like feathers, iridescently blue/green/purple, nestle in her dark brown-black hair, reaching a few inches longer than her shoulder-length hair.
Endlessly cheerful and by most standards suicidally reckless, Nikasi is Lucky, with a capital L. There's really no other explanation for how she's still alive and in one (nominally?) sane piece.
