"Done! It should work now, and I even think I know what it will do!"

Spark from a known, but not notable family. Works primarily with the designs and patterns that can be found in Tulthin. Is capable of inter-realm travel, and seems to have some kind of pet project located far outside the core. Often seen in the company of a half dozen clanks of varying sizes.

Encounters you may have had with Thiglodean have probably been quite frustrating. He's actually a pretty good spark - but insists on putting wheels on everything! And, even when they don't seem to be connected to anything, taking the wheels off makes it stop working.

On the plus side, much of Tulthin's design involves gears. Gears are like wheels, only with extra pointy bits. So, with a little bit of work, it is still possible to find *some* common ground...

Silas grew up amid the golden fields of Astaria. None of his immediate family had the Spark, nor were they expecting him to have it. Nor did they particularly get nay warning. Silas would wonder off for walks through the fields to waste away afternoons. Nobody particularly knew what he was doing on those walks until the nearby war clank started standing up.

Fortunately, Silas disassembled the weapons to get everything else working. The locals were able to disable it without involving Oberon, but not before several fields were ruined. Nobody knew Silas' involvement and his parents kept strict watch on him for a couple of years, using his talents to repair farm equipment and make some extra on the side.

Until, of course, several of the local tractors grew legs, busted him out and carried him to Nexus. He sneaked his way through gates for a couple months until he found Tulthin and he was captured by the need to know what it did. Silas has only left to find parts, funds, or ideas that he needs to continue his research.

He wonders the great machine in a large clank, vaguely resembling a house on two legs, but only if your idea of a house includes various room-like parts of Tulthin put together with little apparent rhyme or reason. He almost always has a variety of clanks around him, built with the same theme: random parts of (or similar to) Tulthin put together somewhat at random. The designs appear to be modular, as they occasionally swap parts (and not always at Silas's direction).

The VonZinker family produces sparks somewhat regularly, but infrequently. They are distantly related to several different spark families, but have made little name for themselves. The family owns a large farm on Astaria, and several members of the family have been mayors in local towns.

Usually, VonZinker sparks are grabbed by various noble families to act as "assistants". The compensations from the nobles are what the family has used to secure their (relative) wealth. Historians with a trained eye suspect that at least some of these nobles had a weak spark or none at all, as their designs have strong similarities to those of other people who VonZinker assistants.

Silas's parents attempted to keep him safe from both the torches and pitchforks of the locals and being kidnapped to assist someone else. Of course, Silas only remembers that they imprisoned him. Silas is the first VonZinker to set off on his own in some time, and appears to be more talented than most who have managed to do it.

Silas is currently in his mid-twenties, having been on his own for most of a decade. He stands just over six feet and a lean, but fairly muscular build. His skin is tanned from a life spent mostly outdoors and his hands slightly calloused and scarred. His clothing is a mis-match of styles, although generally fairly clean. The two most constant things about his appearance is a pair of glasses with a variety of drop down magnifiers and a bushy beard of uneven length.

His two current companion clanks are called "Tiny" and "Gizmo":
  • Tiny is, predictably, about ten feet tall and primarily made from a variety of hydraulic pistons and reservoirs, although a few gears poke out from some central system that is well hidden by hoses. Its "face" is a variety of pressure gauges poking from the top of its torso.
  • Gizmo is three feet tall and made from a wide assortment of parts. His torso looks very clock-like, with a variety of gears behind glass, although it has no face. The head is a simple box like design with two glass orbs on the front for eyes and a small variety of antenna which move to provide basic expressions. Its left arm appears to be a heavy duty clamp, and its right arms both end in very fine manipulators. It is currently mounted on three wheels at the end of individual arms, powered by chains going into the torso. It appears to be able to balance on two of the wheels while moving the third in order to navigate stairs.
