Ametrine heads toward one of the regular-looking gnolls and begins asking it, in gnollish, if he knows why they are fighting and what they hope to accomplish -- attempting to see if they can possibly be placated.

He suspects the answer to the latter is no, but it never hurts to ask.

Stewart's constructs step out of their dimension doors into the air right next to the behemoth and immediately begin beating it with their feet (their arms being rather occupied with keeping them aloft).

Stewart and Eenyrl's entrance is far more subtle, stepping out into an empty space near the rear of the horde. Stewart reaches forward with a hand and ectoplasm bursts from the Plane of Dreams and encases nearly everything in his sight. All of the zombies are trapped, but too much of the behemoth is outside of the burst, and what little material lands on it evaporates quickly. Three of the white-furred gnolls are slightly faster than their brethren and remain free, along with their mounts. Of the living gnolls on the battlefield, only the one Ametrine spoke to remains free.

A fraction of a second after Stewart's ectoplasm materializes, Aurora snaps into view above and slightly to the side of the lumbering behemoth. Several spheres of smoky grey energy streak down towards the undead and gnolls. Three strike the passengers, one the monstrosity itself (though to much lesser effect), and a few race down past the giant crab to plow into various undead that were in close enough proximity. The priestess avoids the attack, but Naralex and the other gnoll are knocked sideways off of their peculiar steed. The "steed" shrugs off the hit, but the zombies clustered around it collapse into various bits of detritus.

Naralex drifts calmly sideways before landing neatly on the roof of a nearby building. Then he carefully extracts a thin book from beneath his robes, opens it, and starts writing, apparently completely unconcerned by the notion that somebody might attack him again. To be fair, it doesn't look like Aurora's attack did any damage.

The male gnoll arrests his flight in midair with an annoyed jerk of magic, and returns fire at Aurora with a blast of clinging green flame. Surprisingly, it does seem to burn Aurora - most likely its actual effect is acidic rather than pyrotechnic.

The priestess ignores Aurora, turning instead towards Stewart. "Ah, you've decided to show up early? All the better." She makes a dismissive wave of her arm, and black lightning smashes down on Stewart (and Eenyrl, and Kailyn, both of whom had opted to come along for the ride.) Though visually (and thaumatically) impressive, it doesn't seem to have accomplished anything.
The gnoll snorts. "Yes, I suppose that would have been too easy. Very well." She adds something in gnollish - a simple order for her followers to kill Stewart.
A second flick of her wrist unleashes a burst of dispelling energy, though again it is has no obvious effect.

The behemoth ponderously turns around, acting on the priestess' orders. A thunderous blast of lightning (the real sort, not fake negative energy lightning) erupts from the dragon head grafted to its front. Eenyrl and Kailyn simply dodge; Stewart is not quite so quick. The blast also happens to destroy the coccoons of two more gnolls - and, incidentally, kill the gnolls who were inside.
Fortunately, there are two quite solid constructs between the behemoth and Stewart, and it is unable to follow up its magical assault with physical blows.

However, there are still three undead gnolls who are more than happy to carry out their mistress' command.
The first one's charge is interrupted by Kailyn; the unicorn simply steps into its path, blocks the incoming axe with his animated shield, and plunges his horn into the chest of his attacker. There's a flash of holy energy, and then all that's left is a crumpled shell of white gnoll fur.
The second one goes down in an explosion of burning bones as Eenyrl detonates a flaming arrow inside the ribcage of its skeletal mount. It'll be on its feet again in just a few moments, sure, but for the moment is quite inconvenienced.
The third manages a simple ride-by attack with its axe, ending somewhere that's not in a direct line with Stewart and the behemoth. Of course, the axe goes swishing harmlessly through the edge of the ectoplasmic membrane Stewart summoned to defend himself, but it's still better than its two fellows managed.

The one gnoll Ametrine was attempting to question manages a sort of a panicked expression, looking between all of his coccooned brethren, and this small yellow dragon floating nearby, and Stewart, and the priestess - and then pulls out his bow and retreats to take cover around the corner of a nearby building before taking a potshot in the general direction of Stewart.
Perhaps he'll be more amenable to answering questions now that he's a bit less in the main line of fire...

The lightning burns at Stewart for a moment, although some seems to simply linger around him in a crackling aura. His constructs continue to batter at the behemoth, undeterred at their lack of progress.

Stewarts ears flick at the priestess. "Early? I didn't know there was a schedule. Surl should send me a copy." He gestures at her and the warlock. A surge of magic flares around them both as spells unravel. Stewart's irritation vanishes into a moment of smug satisfaction as the warlock begins drifting groundward.

After watching the battle unfold, Ametrine follows the lone gnoll. Agitated at having been completely ignored, Ametrine briefly tussles with the gnoll, breaking his shortbow by snapping the wood.

Following this comes a quick (and completely made up) calculation of his odds of survival this battle, a rhetorical question involving the number of gnolls who have ignored dragons and lived to talk about it, and then a polite request to reconsider Ametrine's inivitation to converse.

Aurora slews sideways in mid-air with a grimace, angling towards the warlock. A storm of fire rains down on the enemies below. Apparently not content to stop there she sends a second volley of smoking bolts hard on the first one's heels, so closely trailing as to appear merely smoke trailing the cometary assault. Neither hit seems to bother the priestess, much to Aurora's aggravation, and the behemoth shows no reaction as well though Aurora hadn't particularly been expecting one. The gnoll warlock, however, takes the full force of both attacks and is slammed into the remains of a ruined building beneath the monstrosity far harder than simple gravity would have accomplished, adding to the general wreckage if only by a token amount.

The warlock carefully stands up (wrecked building providing at best a slightly unstable footing) and sends another searing green bolt at Aurora. He doesn't seem particularly concerned - either by the damage that he's taken, or by the fact that he's standing in green mist of zombification.

The behemoth, apparently unable to use its breath weapon this round, continues to assault Stewart's constructs. Several extraneous limbs flail madly at both of them - but the two main claws both latch on to one and start to tear it apart.

The priestess continues to toss spells; starting with another quickened dispel, and then leading into something much larger and more complicated. Exactly what she was casting is rendered irrelevant; Luma appears next to her and interrupts the spell with a greatsword to the arm.

The priestess steps back and grins. "Deathclaw, activate crown."
From notches in the behemoth's upper shell, ten thin tentacles emerge, each tipped with an eye. Ten rays lance out towards Luma, one from each eye. Some of them miss, passing through her without actually connecting, and of those that hit, the only obvious effect is a simple slowing magic.

The priestess looks slightly disappointed. Naralex continues to take notes.

Back on the ground, there are still two undead gnolls trying to kill Stewart. The mounted one spins and comes back around for another pass, but Kailyn steps into its path again. The resulting flash of holy power is weaker, this time, though, and - though clearly injured - the wight survives the attack.
The other one climbs out of the burning wreckage of its mount, and charges Stewart on foot - though to little effect; Stewart's defenses against physical attacks are apparently more than adequate for opponents such as these.

Eenyrl, by contrast, is having very little luck defending against a swarm of shadowy tendrils that have erupted from the ground beneath his feet, and are busily wrapping around his limbs. While he's not seriously injured (yet), it doesn't look like he'll be able to free himself on his own.

Ametrine: It seems you've overdone it. The gnoll starts blabbering in terror - the best you can determine is that he serves someone named "Grittag", who serves Surl, and that he just does what he's told, and apparently they're supposed to kill that cat-thing over there, and it's all for the glory of Surl, and my what sharp claws you have, please don't kill me.

The grappled construct seems to dissolve in the behemoth's grasp, only to reform nearby and strike at it again. Its partner simply continues to beat on the behemoth, where the repeated strikes are starting to cause cracks across the shell.

Stewart glances over the battlefield, seeming to evaluate his options. But Stewart is actually spending the time to send a message to Aurora: "Got resistances off both, but neither death ward. And the warlock isn't really there."

Then Stewart stretches his arm towards the priestess, apparently causing two balls of telekinetic force appear near her. One tears into the gnoll while the other dissipates as it hits the behemoth. Frowning, Stewart flicks his hand at the dark mass enveloping Eenyrl. In response to this absent-minded gesture, an entropic burst of magic dissipates the tendrils. Stewart's ears perk with satisfaction.

Dismayed at the result, Ametrine sighs and leaves the gnoll alone.
He flies over to the figure writing on one of the roofs to quietly read over his shoulder.
