Hatcher feels no need to change his attack strategy at this time. However, if he can make any small changes to line up some opponents for Dazzle, he'll definatly do so.

Maya's pack pulls back into the forest for a few moments - buying themselves some time for healing magic before they return to the fray. Except Kerberos, who pauses at far edge of charge range. Predictably, one of the trolls attempts to do so - and the resulting block of ice-encased troll provides him with excellent cover against the thrown boulders of the hill giants.

Merlin engages the group Maya's pack was playing with, using a remarkably similar tactic of darting in and out of melee range and never staying put long enough for his opponents to retaliate effectively. He's not quite as good at it as they are, though that may, in part, be due to there only being one of him.

Hatcher: Continuing the same strategy drops one of the hill giants, who is then made rather more dead as a side-effect of Dazzle's strafing run. The remaining forces opposing you break, attempting to run in any direction that doesn't include something large and blue and scaly.

Hatcher takes this opportunity to take a look around and see if any enemy combatants are not fleeing. If anyone is fleeing towards the top of the hill, Hatcher will persuade them to choose an alternate route. (doubtful, fleeing usually is in a downward direction.) Assuming thatis not the case, he will charge over towards the other battle.

That assumption, is, alas, wrong - uphill is a direction that does not (currently) include blue scales, so there are two trolls trying to go that way. It's relatively simple to head them off, albeit not a task that can be completed instantaneously.

On the other side of the battle, Maya's pack returns to combat, seemingly no longer injured. That (perhaps combined with a screaming troll running past at top speed) is enough to break morale on this side of the fight as well.

Trolls and hill giants scatter in all directions yet again - at least, those capable of moving. Two hill giants are dead; one troll and one ogre mage are incapacitated (read: would be dead if they weren't regenerating); one troll is frozen in a solid block of ice; six trolls and two hill giants are still sleeping soundly.

Current total of fleeing foes: six trolls and five hill giants. There is no semblance of an organized retreat.

Hatcher, as much as he dislikes it, must admit that chasing down any further enemies may put him at a positional disadvantage to any second waves that may or may not appear. Therefore, he's going to have to stay put and let them flee. This irks him enough to be easily noticed.

Hatcher then wishes he had some way to restrain an ogre mage, but nothing comes to mind.

Maya sends out a mental message: "Hatcher if you could, make sure the ogre mage stays unconscious. Fierce, Fang, kerberos, sheepdog the runners, I want them back here unconscious if you have to. Please try not to kill them. I want to have a little chat with our new friends."

With that Maya claws the ogre mage one last time and precedes to execute her own order.

Hatcher can, at the very least, keep the ogre mage down until he thinks of a better plan. (which might take a while.)

Rounding up the fleeing giants is a somewhat annoying task, even with help from Dazzle and Nehmet. Still, it's doable, and you've got enough healing magic on hand to make sure that they're all in condition to at least listen when you're done...

Maya stands with one foot on the slowly regenerating ogre magi and asks her new found audience with her jaw clenched, a fierce determined look upon her face: "Is this pile of refuse your leader?" Fang and Fierce are circling the crowd in a unsettling predatory fashion, Fierce occasionally slipping from view entirely as invisibility subsumes her. Kerberos stands slightly behind Maya and to her left, arms crossed, and eyes fixed in a simple unflinching stare upon the crowd.

Hatcher will sit and listen, for now. Anyone trying any funny business will provoke lightning breath unless they are restrained very quickly. This does not mean he is uninterested, however.

On a visual note, Hatcher will sit on a fairly flat rock (which may or may not have existed previously) with a fairly inquisitive expression, about 20 feet up the hill of Maya and the giants.

On a bookkeeping note, Hatcher is no longer a bear and hasn't been for a few posts.
