Despite your hand having been, apparently, set on fire, the symbol dealt no damage to you - either physical or metaphysical. Searching the tomb reveals little; there is no sign of the thing's body, nor any obvious nexus of negative energy that might serve to reassemble it. But the chill feeling is still there, so clearly some presence yet lurks in the darkness... Amongst the remains of the deepest group of adventurers, you find a few books. One of them, judging by its magical nature, is a wizard's spellbook, but the rest of them are unidentifiable in the darkness. |

The spellbook is a good find... Thirwin will stick that in his backpack. As for the ruins, with the elemental guarding, he will cast Legend Lore on the area. |

Thirwin prepares for the return of the panther... putting the holy symbol back in the bag. he creates a specter with dark magics to help him, and dismissed the elemental and summons a new one. Then he rememorizes his spells and waits.... If the undead doesn't show up that night, he will start legend loring the monster. |

It is only a few hours before the creature attacks again; even with the specter scouting for it, there is no warning. It does not actually reach you, though; it recoils when it reaches a few feet away. For a moment, it seems almost comical, simultaneously straining to attack, and yet unable to bring itself to close the last short distance. |

Thirwin will take that moment to call forth his god's might, to keep the creature at bay. Then he will intone a ritual to restore the undead's mind to what it might have been. |

The thing freezes in place for perhaps a minute - and then demands, "Who are you, and what is your purpose here?" Its voice is a deep rumble, a threatening sound just barely short of a growl. |

The beast pauses for a moment, thinking. Then its voice rumbles again - softer this time, but no less threatening. "Then we will offer you a deal, Thirwin. There still stands one temple to our Lord. Take His symbol and purify that place, that we might find rest. Do this, and we shall answer your questions as best we can." |

"And Where is this temple?" Thirwin thinks, if this is the kind of undead in just an outlying temple, he will need help to purify more. |
