The tundra that stretches from the rim mountains down to edges of human civilization is an austerely beautiful place. At least, it can be. An army of a hundred or more orcs does somewhat ruin the view.

This particular army is slowly settling down for the night. Already several bonfires are raging, fueled by whatever plant life the orcs were able to find in the area. As usual, they've given no thought to the possibility that they might want to come back this way - an orcish army either wins, or dies.

There are, however, a few signs of something out of the ordinary here. Bat winged serpents patrol above, their wings glowing dull red in the slowly darkening sky. Within the camp itself, more serpentine forms can be seen, bossing the orcs around or lounging in the bonfires.

Maya snarls a little to herself. Orcs she knows and understands, these serpents however...

"Fang, Fierce, let us grab a wandering orc. I want to mix words with the orc chief, but these serpents I do not yet know."

Silent as a cat she begins stalking the wilderness looking for signs of a scout or lone guard.

The army seems to be relying on the flyers as scouts, but they are sending out orcs in pairs to collect whatever burnable materials the area has to offer. Assaulting such a pair while remaining unnoticed from the air may be tricky, though. Fortunately, the area is rife with ravines and short cliffs, so it's not outright impossible. It just requires some patience...

Maya smiles to herself, she's a skilled predator and patience is her middle name. Her and Fang sneak down through the ravines and cliffs and wait to grab some orcs when they pass by.

She places some good fuel for a fire in a convenient place for her to ambush them. Fierce holds back on this one to keep track of the fliers. We try to keep her within 300 feet if possible.

And, indeed, it is not long before a pair of orcs come trundling down towards you. They don't seem particularly alert; it's clear they aren't expecting any trouble.

Maya enters wolf form and they wait until both orcs are bent down picking up our little gift before we set off our ambush. Fang goes for the biggest and Maya for the other. Once/If we take them down successfully we stealthily get them to some place else to wait for them to wake up.

A simple nip to the ankles, followed up by carefully not quite crushing their throats, and both orcs are disabled (but not dead - yet). They don't even have time to scream.

Fierce reports that the flying serpents have not altered their paths; it seems likely you are still undetected.

We keep to the cliffs and ravines and carry them out of there. One orc is flung over Fang's back, and Maya is carrying the other. We hope to get to a safer place with Fierce undetected before the orcs come to or are noticed to be missing.

By the time one of the flyers swoops down to check the ravine you used for your ambush, your pack is long gone.

The orcs show no signs of recovering soon; it's entirely possible that, given the temperature, they won't recover on their own at all. Still, they're not dying yet, either; you've got plenty of time to get them as far away as you like.

Maya finds the orcs a makeshift shelter and reluctantly builds them a fire, mumbling to herself about her luck in finding the runts of the orc tribe, not being able to take a little cold. Fierce is on watch duty again, just in case the orcs play dumb about language and Maya needs Fang. After they've warmed up a little bit and got some color in their cheeks, she hits one in the face with a snowball hoping to jar him awake with the sudden cold and wetness.
