MGC 096: Elements of Magic Theory (3/1)*
Prerequisite: None. Students who have a 400 tSAT score or above are exempt from this class.
Description: This course provides a solid foundation in magic for students who have had no previous experience and acts as a review of basic magical concepts.
Topics: The interplay between the four elements, the nature of bursting, the differences between Praeda and Venator, and the relationship between the three worlds. Lab will require the ability to cast one defensive and one offensive spell. Additional topics and legends may be introduced depending on student needs.

MGC 098: Magic Orientation (1)
Prerequisite: None. Students who have a 650 tSAT score or above are exempt from this class.
Description: A relatively short series of tests and instruction to make sure that entering students do not have any gaps in their basic knowledge.
*: The course meets three hours a week for the first three weeks of class and up to one hour a week as needed in the following weeks.
Topics: Proper terminology. Verification of basic spell competency, including ability to use one offensive and one defensive spell, and a number of solo-element spells. Additional topics may be introduced based on student needs.

MGC 099: Controlled Burst Experience (2/2)*
Prerequisite: No previous bursts.
Description: While most students have already used magic for the first time, there are circumstances where a student might not have had the right experience for them. his one-on-one course involves creating a burst in a controlled and safe environment. After the student bursts, the rest of the course involves basic exercises to bring the student up to the level needed for 100 level classes. May be taken concurrently with MGC 096.
Topics: Initial Burst. Discussion of bursting and burst techniques. Basic magic exercise.

MGC 101: The 4 Elements (3/1)
Prerequisite: MGC 096; or MGC 098 (co-requisite).
Description: Air, Earth, Fire and Water. These are the 4 building blocks of all spells. This introductory course covers the history and use of the four elements. Focus on casting without outbursts, controlling the level of magic expended, and proper records of research.
Topics: History and use of 4 elements. Ability to use several solo-element spells, including off-element spells. Description of how the 4 elements combine to more complex spells.

MGC 120: Meditative Focus (0/3)
Prerequisite: Initial burst.
Description: Magic is part of a mage. In order to better communicate with ones magic, one must look inside. This course covers the basics of self-introspection and calming the mind.
Topics: Concentration, tranquility. Basic yoga. Other basic methods may be assigned.

MGC 125: Maintaining Spells

MGC 131: Venator of Three (3/1)
Prerequisite: MGC 101
Description: A selection of offensive and utility spells of basic complexity with study of the methods used to learn new spells. Focus on spells that are easier for students with Venator facing.
Topics: Selected spells. Methods used to record spells. Ability to read and learn written spells.
Elements: All/V

MGC 132: Praeda of Three (3/1)
Prerequisite: MGC 101
Description: A selection of defensive and utility spells of basic complexity with study of the methods used to learn new spells. Focus on spells that are easier for students with Praeda facing.
Topics: Selected spells. Methods used to record spells. Ability to read and learn written spells.
